Jeffrey Cohen earned his accounting degree from California State University, Northridge in 1982. He began his career at KPMG, working on numerous IPO and small business audit engagements where he obtained his CPA license during his tenure there. From 1988 thru 2009, Jeff took a leave from public accounting to build a successful importing business. During this time, he moved his CPA license to retired status.
In 2010, Jeff sold his import business and purchased a tax & accounting practice located in Encino, California. A couple of his newly acquired clients were in the Cannabis industry. After extensive research and interviews, Jeff decided to develop an expertise in the Cannabis industry. With his focus was on taxation, Jeff became an Enrolled Agent to practice before the IRS. Since then he has developed an extensive network of attorneys and tax professionals dedicated to the Cannabis industry.
His goal is to assist his clients in achieving legitimacy in this industry, through proper compliance with city, state & federal agencies. He specializes in IRS tax code 280e, having developed numerous IRS 280e mitigation strategies for his clients. He has become one of the top cannabis tax accountants in California, working with many clients in the cannabis industry, from growers & processors to dispensaries, delivery services and now distributors throughout California.
